Questions
- What permissions does Cicada need?
- Manage Roles (level roles), Manage Channels and Move Members (temporary voice rooms), Manage Server (invite attribution), Manage Webhooks plus View Channel, Send Messages, Embed Links, Read Message History and Add Reactions (announcements and reputation reactions). Never Administrator.
- Does Cicada read my members’ messages?
- It counts them — length and timing, to award XP — and discards the text immediately. Message content is never stored or logged, and voice audio is never accessed at all.
- Are levels per server or global?
- XP, levels, reputation and coins are global to a Discord account, shared across every server that has Cicada. The roles granted at each level are configured per server, so each community sets its own ladder.
- Do I need this dashboard to use the bot?
- No. Everything has a slash command in Discord. The dashboard is for the things a form does better: the level-role ladder, and composing an announcement with a live preview before it goes out.
- Is it free?
- The leveling system is free forever — text and voice XP, unlimited level roles, the leaderboard, reputation, the wallet, duels and FACEIT stats, on every server. Raid detection is free too. The paid tier adds the guild health report and a weekly digest, and it is bought inside Discord with /premium buy. See the pricing page for what it costs.
